Damage mitigation permits
In recognition of the fact that kangaroo populations can sometimes cause damage to landscapes, infrastructure and enterprises, all Australian states and territories have provisions for landholders to manage overabundant macropods. In NSW landholders can apply for Licences to harm kangaroos to mitigate damage to the landscapes.
Frequently Asked Questions and limits on the number of kangaroos that may be culled under a licence to harm kangaroos in NSW can be found here.
All culling of kangaroos in Australia must adhere to the Code of Practice for the Humane Shooting of Kangaroos and Wallabies for Non-Commercial Purposes
