The Kangaroo Management Taskforce originated from a kangaroo workshop in Cobar in Western NSW in 2016. In 2018 the Taskforce became an advisory committee to the Western Local Land Services Board.

In 2019 Western Local Land Services produced this document for regional landholders and focuses on the three species that can currently be harvested in Western NSW: Red kangaroos, eastern grey kangaroos, and western grey kangaroos.
